Qualitative Research Methods Training

The Institute of Community and Public Health invites you to join us for a two-part training workshop series titled: “Qualitative Research Methods: Approaches, Methods, and Applications”. 

We will begin with the first workshop in the series titled: “An Introduction to Qualitative Methods and Interviewing as a Research Tool” on Saturday August 20, 2016 from 9:30 am to 2 pm. In the first part of the workshop you will learn about the various types of qualitative research methods more generally, and when to use specific methods. The second half of the workshop will focus on qualitative interviewing as a research tool, where you will learn about interviewing, preparing an interview schedule, and how to analyze interview data.

The second workshop in the series, titled: “Guidelines for Conducting Focus Group Discussions and Analyzing Qualitative Data” will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 9:30 to 2 pm. In this workshop, we will focus on: what is a focus group and when to use it, how to plan for and prepare for conducting focus group discussions, and analysis and interpretation of qualitative data.

The training will take place at the Institute of Community and Public Health, first floor, Said Khoury Development Studies Building, Birzeit University.

Please note that certificates of participation will be provided at the end of the training for those who attend both sessions.
