Shiraz has a Master degree in Spatial Analysis from Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada. She is skilled in quantitative research methods and GIS. Her current research focus is related to marginalized community groups including women and children. Shiraz is also part of the Lancet Palestinian Health Alliance (LPHA) coordination team.

An Academic researcher at the Institute of Community and Public Health since 2008. Research experience includes epidemiology of non-communicable disease, women’s and child’s health and rational drug use. Also is working as a teaching assistant for several MPH courses including research methods, biostatistics , epidemiology and seminar in public health. SPSS trainer.

Rita Giacaman is a professor of public health at the Institute of Community and Public Health, Birzeit University, West Bank, occupied Palestinian territory. The founder of the Institute, Rita's current work focuses on the development of measures to assess psycho-social health which are relevant and appropriate for context, and ways in which interventions could generate active and positive resilience and resistance to ongoing war like conditions, especially among youth.
