Our lives with Mental illness in the Palestinian Community
Our illustrated storybook "Get to know Us! Our lives with Mental Illness in the Palestinian Community" has been published!
The book highlights the difficulties and limited opportunities for people with mental illness to live and participate in their communities with chapters focusing the notion of community, life with mental illness, equity and the right to medication, work and sparetime.
This book was written by people with mental illness in partnership with researchers from Birzeit University, King's College London and the Palestinian Counseling Center.
We invite you to read and engage with the book! A free electronic copy of the book as well as audio recordings of all the chapters are available on this website
After reading the book/listening to the recordings, we encourage you to participate in an online conversation with us about mental illness in Palestine. It would be fantastic if you could answer the three interactive questions posted on the site and make a pledge about what you will do to help improve the situation of people with mental illness in your community.
If you would like to purchase hard copies of our book, please contact Suzan Mitwalli from the Institute of Public and Community Health - Birzeit University: smitwalli@birzeit.edu
