Workshop on research priority setting in reproductive health 29-2, 2016

April 12, 2016

On Monday February 29th 2016, the Institute of Community and Public Health at Birzeit University held a workshop on research priority setting in reproductive health, which is part of a project that aims to enhance reproductive health services in Palestine.

The workshop brought together many of the main stakeholders in reproductive health in Palestine, in addition to experts in the field of reproductive health from Palestinian academic institutions from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and a number  of private consultants and medical healthcare providers, including physicians and midwives, thus tapping into the clinical aspect of reproductive health alongside the academia aspect.

The workshop was part of the second phase of the project on reproductive health, where during the first phase, participants had proposed research questions related to reproductive health. During the second phase of the project, the workshop invited participants to a research priority scoring exercise, allowing them to individually evaluate research topics from phase one based on pre-defined criteria. Responses from participants were compiled and the top research priority areas in reproductive health were identified. The workshop successfully highlighted many areas worthy of discussion and further follow-up in the field of reproductive health research in Palestine.
