The iPIER is a program to support the development of and demand for research that is problem-focused and action–oriented. The iPIER initiative will develop the implementers’ capacity to identify implementation barriers and opportunities which can be appraised through research. The idea is to improve implementation processes through implementation research. iPIER is currently being carried out by the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research (AHPSR)  in collaboration with the World Health Organisation in three Regions.  The Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO) is one of them. The Institute of Community and Public Health at Birzeit University is acting as a WHO coordinating center for iPIER in the EMRO region. It has a crucial role in supporting implementers from the region in identifying their own problems, improve their implementation research proposals, and guide them through the whole process of research and utilizing the results to improve their processes and health outcomes.
