Dr. Maysaa Nemer, the Director of the Institute of Community and Public (ICPH), participated in the Eighth Global Symposium on Health Systems Research, held in Nagasaki, Japan, from November 18 to 22, 2024. The symposium was co-hosted by Health System Global (HSG), Alliance for Health System Research (HPSR), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Nagasaki University, and focused on environmental health and climate change.
Dr. Maysaa contributed to the symposium through presentations and panel discussions where she addressed the impacts of climate change on health in Palestine and the challenges of responding to this issue within the Palestinian context, which is marked by the restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation, control over natural resources, and the prevention of environmental and health initiatives.
She also presented the findings of her recent research, which examined the status of the health sector in Palestine and other health-influencing sectors, focusing on their vulnerability and response to the various impacts of climate change. It is worth noting that this research is part of a series of studies conducted in 12 resource-constrained countries to provide a detailed analysis of their conditions and to develop solutions and recommendations tailored to each country’s context.
شاركت د. ميساء نمر، مديرة معهد الصحة العامة و المجتمعية، في المؤتمر الثامن لأبحاث الأنظمة الصحية العالمي، و الذي عقد في مدينة ناجازاكي في اليابان في الفترة من 18 الى 22 تشرين الثاني 2024 ، وتم تنظيم المؤتمر بالتعاون بين الشبكة العالمية للأنظمة الصحية (HSG)، والتحالف لأبحاث الأنظمة الصحية (HPSR)، ووكالة التعاون الدولي اليابانية (JICA)، وجامعة ناغازاكي، وركزت فعاليات المؤتمر على الصحة البيئية و تغير المناخ.
وقد شاركت د. ميساء في المؤتمر من خلال عروض تقديمية و جلسات حوار قامت من خلالها بالحديث حول الآثار الصحية لتغير المناخ في فلسطين، و تحديات الاستجابة لهذه المشكلة ضمن السياق الفلسطيني الذي يعاني من تضييقات الاحتلال و سيطرته على الموارد الطبيعية و منعه لأي مبادرات بيئية و صحية.
و قد عرضت نتائج لبحثها الذي قامت به مؤخراً و تم من خلاله دراسة وضع القطاع الصحي في فلسطين و القطاعات المؤثرة في الصحة من حيث تأثرها و استجابتها لتغير المناخ و آثاره المتعددة. و من الجدير بالذكر بأن هذا البحث هو جزء من مجموعة أبحاث تم عملها في 12 دولة محدودة المصادر للوصول الى وصف مفصل لأوضاع هذه الدول و تطوير حلول و مقترحات مناسبة لسياق كل دولة.
