Global meeting of the HRP alliance for research capacity strengthening, Thailand 15-17 November 2016

As a member of the Human Reproduction Program (HRP), Dr. Niveen Abu Rmeileh, the director of the Institute of Community and Public Health has participated in a capacity strengthening meeting in Thailand from 15 to 17 November, 2016. The objectives of the meeting were:

1. To present and discuss short and long term plans for HRP global research capacity strengthening in light of:

a. Global, regional and national research priorities and knowledge transfer needs in SRHR

b. Focus on implementation research

2. To provide technical updates on the research capacity strengthening program and the HRP alliance as well as on HRP sexual and reproductive health and rights research

3. To enable sharing of experiences and reports on research capacity strengthening needs and achievements from current grant recipient and other HRP alliance partners.

4. To promote inter-regional collaboration and to harmonize global research and research capacity strengthening efforts.

The meeting was a great opportunity for networking with centers and universities working in the same field in the region and internationally. Research collaboration opportunities, which might be funded by HRP were also discussed. The meeting was also a good opportunity for gaining experience from other LID grantees experience in relation to funding and reporting.
