A research team from ICPH participated in the national conference on health rights of persons with disabilities which took place on Wednesday July 20th 2022 in Ramallah. The conference was organized by QADER for Community Development in partnership with the Palestinian Disability Coalition and Save the Children International.
Suzan Mitwali, an academic researcher at ICPH, presented on behalf of Prof Rita Giacaman and Lina Abdul-Samad in the first session of the conference entitled “The reality of the enjoyment of health rights by persons with disabilities, in relation to the obligations articulated in the government health insurance system for persons with disabilities.”
Suzan focused on the obstacles facing people with disabilities in accessing health services during and prior to the pandemic. Her presentation was based on the findings of a case study that was prepared for the Disability Under Siege Network on the impact of COVID-19 on persons with disabilities in the West Bank of the occupied Palestinian territory.
