As part of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme for 2017-2019, a new collaboration was initiated between Birzeit University and Mary Immaculate College (MIC), University of Limerick, Ireland. In October 2017, Birzeit University received the first Irish visitor, Dr. Elaine Murtagh. During her visit Dr. Murtagh met Dr. Amir Khalil, the head of the International Relations Office, where he gave an overview of Birzeit University's operations. Dr. Murtagh and Dr. Abu-Rmeileh from the Institute of Community and Public Health, also prepared a collaboration working plan for the coming two years which included a visit of two faculty members from Birzeit University to MIC in Ireland.
